Minimize onboard risk with safety drills and the proper care of hazardous materials with this free online course.

Shipboard Safety: Training, Drills, and Hazardous Materials

This free online course demonstrates the value of regular training and frequent drills to ensure the proper handling of dangerous situations and materials on ships. We examine a range of shipboard hazards and provide methods to reduce the risks they pose. These safety measures involve relevant stakeholders including crew members and their managers and we explain how everyone can contribute to keeping ships safe.

Diploma in Terrestrial and Coastal Navigation - Course Assessment

This free online course outlines the importance of coastal navigation and aids used for estimating a vessel’s position.

Diploma in Terrestrial and Coastal Navigation

Since 2 000 B.C.E., sailors have been navigating the oceans. This course teaches you the planning and monitoring of marine passage using terrestrial and coastal navigation, which explains how to plan and fix a ship’s position at sea. We will outline the concept of the Earth’s axis passing through the north and south poles, the Earth’s equator, which maintains equidistant from the poles, and the polar axis from which you measure angle coordinates.
